'Mr F' and 'Polly' have moved into yet another new field, even bigger. It is right next to the menage which will be very handy for me. There are two gates out of the field, one of which opens inwards which will make it again much easier for me to take 'Mr F' out.
Right next to them are the girls, 4 of them.
When we moved them into their new field I was expecting them to trot around, showing off to the girls which where in one of the adjacent fields.
Well it was a show to behold! Never have I seen 'Mr F' gallop so fast apart from his racing video. Both him and 'Polly' seemed very exited about this new field and 'Mr F' kept going to the girls, one of which in particular had taken his fancy (and it goes both ways). Only to chase off again, head high, superb to watch. So much power, so much wildness. The sight took my breath away. Off they both went again and again, on hell bent gallops up the hill, yes, UP the hill. 'Mr F' accented his gallop with some rather elaborate air kicks, even while he was galloping downhill.
We all watched ... in awe. What a beautiful sight! I was no longer worried by now, if he can do all that, he sure has recovered well. In fact I have never seen him this animated and this agile! And he wasn't even out of breath. 'Polly' too has turned into a rather fit lady, having had 'Mr F' to chase her around the other fields made her keep up with him quite OK despite her weight.
But it wasn't just 'Mr F' and 'Polly' putting on a show, one of the girls in the adjacent field, the one that 'Mr F' took a fancy to, also performed some rather wild charging around, much to the astonishment of her owner who had never seen her move like this. Apparently the mares hadn't been near a gelding for 8 years ... needless to say she came into season quite quickly.
The funny thing is that 'Mr F' is rather interested in mares but NOT if they are in season. It is as though it is somewhat 'too much work' to deal with the often clingy mares. When 'Rose' was in season, and she was in season pretty much non-stop in spring, she wouldn't leave 'Mr F's side. She followed him like a shadow, devotedly but he used to get very annoyed with her because of that.
Eventually they all settle down, the grass is now more interesting. They meet up every now and then for some kind of discussion across the stone wall but all is calm now.
'Dolly' and 'Mr F' in their new field.
